Research and development into MOBA UI

A University UI Project, focused on researching and developing a prototype MOBA User Interface & Related mechanics.

The MOBA Study.

 As part of my initial delve into User Interface design and development within Unreal Engine 4, one of my primary assignments was the research & development of a MOBA UI. For this assignment I Researched Industry examples such as Riot Games' League of legends, Valve Corporation's Dota 2 And Blizzard Entertainments Heroes of the Storm.  Within this research phase I looked into Screen Space Analysis, Colour theory , Animations and Wireframing of each of the research subjects HUD Elements, And utilised my findings to mock up Low fidelity Wireframes for my own HUD. With these low fidelity wireframes, I then gathered user feedback and further developed High fidelity wireframe prototypes for my design stage.

From here I then began working on themes, colour palates, typography and iconography for the project. Once a suitable Style guide had been created work then began on the development of UI Elements and any related mechanics. Once All functionality had been implemented, user feedback was collected, designs were iterated upon and prototype art assets were replaced throughout to give the entire project a cohesive style.

 Results & Continued work. 

 While no longer being worked on in my free time, this project was a relative success and is one of my first examples of my keen interest in UI/UX design & development and has lead onto me pursuing more roles within UI/UX design in both my personal projects and academic. I feel like completing UI Studies on different genres allows me to breakdown the fundamentals of each genres UI/UX principles and overall benefits my work in all fields.
